Hi, I’m Russell — and this is really a story about my wife Jaime and me.
We started Modern Luxe Getaways the way most good things start — a little selfishly. Our family had been taking beach trips and group getaways for years, and we kept noticing the same thing: the places we stayed were either overpriced hotels that felt cold and impersonal, or vacation rentals that looked great in photos and fell flat in person. Dated furniture, thin towels, a “fully equipped kitchen” with one dull knife and a coffee maker from 2009.
We wanted something better. So when the opportunity came to buy Sea La Vie — a five-bedroom beach house in Garden City Beach, South Carolina — Jaime and I decided to build the property we always wished existed. Designer interiors that actually feel luxurious. A heated saltwater pool available year-round. A kitchen you’d actually want to cook in. Two master suites so two families don’t have to fight over the primary bedroom. Every detail chosen with the guest experience in mind, not just the listing photo.
One property became two. The Midtown Tulsa Gem followed — a designer-renovated home steps from the Gathering Place and Philbrook Museum, built with the same philosophy Jaime and I keep coming back to: if it wouldn’t make a guest feel genuinely taken care of, it doesn’t belong in one of our homes.
